The First Amendment

The First Amendment is really the call to arms for The Good American Post and our effort as the press/media to keep those, in positions of power, honest.  Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to exercise religion, and the ability to assemble and petition the government are indeed what makes the United States of America the greatest country in all of the world.

Atlas Shrugged & Culture of Corruption, Part 1

Could a small business owner find solace in prophecy and watch-dog journalism?

Originally I went to Barnes & Noble to pick up the book Democracy, The God That Failed by Hans-Hermann Hoppe.  I just happen to see Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, and picked it up.  Since they were out of my original choice, the latter was my purchase, and I was off to start the thickest book that I have read in, I think, all my life.

This isn’t a book review in the “normal” modus operandi of book reviews.  Instead, this is a column dedicated to looking at books, passages, research, and journalism, to put together some pieces of what I see as the falling and/or rising of systems in place.  Economic systems, political systems, social systems, justice systems, etc.

If we can take the massive amounts of information available to us, look at it with un-biased understanding of how it affects us, and then decide upon the actions that need to take place and do something, then we have succeeded as members of this system that we call a society.  And although that is a complex process that has gone on for hundred, thousands, or maybe millions of years, it is something that we consistently revisit as human beings.

Quintessential Quotes – Thomas Sowell

“When economic decisions are taken out of the hands of individuals operating in a market and put into the hands of expert on planning commissions and the like, this may be thought of as a transfer of decision-making power from those with less knowledge to those with more knowledge but it is far more likely to be a transfer of decision-making power to experts with less knowledge and more presumptions” (Sowell, 2007, pp.167-168).

Food Rules by Michael Pollan: Rule #30 – Eat well-grown food from healthy soil

Soil is the building block of any type of plant growing in it.  Yes, there is even research to support such a claim – soils rich in organic matter grow food that is more nutritious.

That means, not only is it important to eat healthy foods (i.e. plants), but it is equally important that those plants have been grown in healthy soils.  The best way to do this is to know your farmer/producer and learn about their methods with their land.  You can also grow your own food.

“Organic” is good and “local” is good – but in both cases you should become familiar with the producers and their use of the land/soil.

And if you are looking for products and services that may help you, keep your eyes on our FOOD section.

Action! Elect New People, Eat Local Food, & Buy American

By Tisha Casida

Another day, another exhausting showcase on what is wrong with the world and the system.

Some refreshing news, the National Tea Party convention is getting some good press, and some of their topics and speakers thus far have truly spoken for “We the People”.

Again, there is a lot of what is wrong, and I want to focus again on what it RIGHT!  I am 100% confidant that this great Country can pull itself out of economic and social problems using our Liberty & Free Markets.

So, a quick to-do list:

First visit Get Out of Our House – an organization TRULY dedicated to ousting the bad politicians regardless of party-lines.  Let’s start over with TRUE CITIZENS representing us!

Next, find a farmers’ market, CSA-program, or other local food program (find a great database here – Local Harvest) to join and be a part of this upcoming spring/summer/fall.  Local food systems are better for our economy, our environment, and our liberty.

Next, make a pledge to buy AMERICAN, LOCAL, and HAND-MADE whenever and wherever you can.  Find a list of sites and companies in our Blog-Roll.

Lastly, support local media sources that are bi-partisan and seek to appeal to Independent Minds that love Liberty, Free-Markets, and our Great Country.  The Good American Post does just that.

It is simple:
1. Get rid of the bad politics that make up our laws and justice system
2. Eat healthy, local food that supports our producers
3. Purchase consumer-goods from American companies
4. Support local, non-partisan media that is dedicated to our Constitution and Liberty

Together, we make the difference.
